UPDATE: This game has been postponed after prior reporting said it was a possibility, according to the NBA.

The Philadelphia 76ers are scheduled to play the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. But after the latest wave of positive COVID-19 tests, the game could be in jeopardy. According to Shams Charania, the Sixers-Pelicans showdown could be postponed due to a plethora of Sixers players likely being unavailable to suit up.

As Charania stated, center Andre Drummond and guard Shake Milton entered COVID-19 protocols on Sunday, joining fellow teammate Georges Niang. The Sixers will be without Furkan Korkmaz due to an illness. Additionally, the team has listed Danny Green, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid as questionable with various injuries.

The Pelicans are not dealing with any COVID-19 cases of their own. However, they will be without Kira Lewis and Zion Williamson, both of whom are recovering from injuries.

With multiple Sixers players likely unavailable for Sunday's contest, which was set to tip-off at 7:00 pm ET, the game could end up being postponed and rescheduled for a later date.

The NBA has seen a significant spike in COVID-19 cases of late, with more of the league's star players entering the NBA's protocols with each passing day. As the number of cases continues to mount, the NBA will face some serious questions about putting a pause on the season, or even a potential cancellation.

It's unclear at this time if the Sixers' matchup on Monday against the Boston Celtics is at risk. Though, considering the quick turnaround between games for Philly, there's a chance the game is impacted by this update, too.
