The Philadelphia 76ers continue to be right in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. Their 19-16 record is good for sixth place in the East. The Orlando Magic, on the other hand, can’t buy a win this season as they are 7-30, last in the East. Although six of Orlando’s seven wins come against teams over .500, so we can’t just ride them off completely. The 76ers won the last matchup back in November and look to repeat as they try and work their way up the standings. Covid-19 has gotten in the way of the NBA this season, and the Magic are hurting because of it. Until they are completely healthy it’s going to be a while until they are competitive again.

Why The 76ers Could Cover The Spread
Philadelphia shouldn’t have a problem covering this spread. The Magic did keep it close the last time these two teams met, but Orlando has not been playing well as of late. Joel Embiid is back for the 76ers and that is all that matters for them right now. the team is without some crucial role players due to covid-19, so we will see when they will be activated to play again. If Embiid is playing, then the 76ers have a chance against anyone. Look for him to be the factor in this game and one where he should play well against a favorable matchup.
Philadelphia dominated the Houston Rockets last time out so they are feeling good. They have won four straight and are now 17-19 against the spread on the season. If the 76ers get some of those role players back, then they should cover this spread easily.
Why The Magic Could Cover The Spread
Orlando is 2-8 in their last 10 games and is on a five-game losing streak at home. Those aren’t good signs if you are looking to bet on the Magic. It’s just too risky of a move for a team that is in last place in the conference. They are allowing over 110 points per game and their defense is almost non-existent. The team is also dealing with injuries that are setting them back. Rookie Franz Wagner is playing well on the other hand. If he continues to play like he is then this team does have something to look forward to. For now, they will continue to play sub-par basketball and can’t be trusted at this time of the year. Orlando is 17-21 against the spread.

I’m taking the 76ers to cover this spread and win rather easily. The Magic are without a majority of their stars due to covid-19, so that should be even more of a reason why the 76ers cover. I wouldn’t overthink this one.
