The Atlanta Hawks are coming off a huge win over the Chicago Bulls last night 130-124. Their playoff chances remain alive as they got an important win, but have another important matchup tonight. The Washington Wizards are right behind the Hawks as the 11th seed. The Hawks are (30-32) on the season while the Wizards are 1.5 games back with a (28-33) record. As it stands now, the Hawks are the 10th seed and will face the Charlotte Hornets in a play-in game if the season ended today. There are still roughly 17-18 games left on the season so both teams have a chance to make the postseason. This is a crucial win for whoever comes out on top.

Why The Hawks Could Cover The Spread
Atlanta is coming off a huge statement win over the Bulls. After going down early, the Hawks came back as Trae Young notched 39 points in the win. It seems like every time the Hawks win, Young has a massive performance. That will need to be the case again tonight. Although, the Wizards don't pose much of a threat right now with Bradley Beal out for the season. Young will need to play well like usual and led the team, but he doesn't have to go off for 40 again tonight to cover this spread. In fact, he could play poorly and the Hawks could still win. De'Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic continued with a combined 38 points and Kevin Hueter also notched 17 in the win. If they can get production from those players tonight, then they will have no issue covering this 4-point spread on the road.
Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread
The Wizards defeated the Detroit Pistons last time out 116-113. Kyle Kuzma led the way with 21 points and they had eight total players reach double-digits in scoring, including all five starters. This squad is built with a bunch of solid role players who could all contribute on winning teams, but they need to figure out how to beat good teams together. The last time the Wizards beat a team with a winning record was the Brooklyn Nets, which is actually their last two wins against a winning team. Prior to the Nets, you have to go back to February 2, when they beat the Philadelphia 76ers by three. It's been a brutal start to 2022 for the Wizards and it's more than likely going to continue that way. Kristaps Porzingis remains out with a knee injury but is making progress and should debut for the team soon.
As for covering this spread against the Hawks, they must try and contain Young, or else they won't have much of a chance. The Wizards are (24-35-2) against the spread this season whereas the Hawks are just a little better at (28-34).

I like the Hawks on the road in this one. They seem to be the better team right now and are coming off a huge win. They are on the second night of a back-to-back so that could hurt them. I still believe they will cover this spread.
