The Kings are coming off a 110-109 nail-bitter victory over the Indiana Pacers in the Hoosier State. Damian Jones tipped in a missed shot with two-tenths of a second. The tip powered the Kings to victory. Jones finished with  12 points, on 5 for 6 shooting. Rookie Davion Mitchell shined with 25 points, on 10 for 15 shooting. Chimezie Metu added 23 points, on 8 for 11 shooting. The Kings were short-handed, as two of their best players sat out.  De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis both sat out with injuries. Fox has been out since March 16 with an injured right hand. Sabonis suffered a bruised left knee in a recent game with the Suns. Both are out against Orlando. Sacramento is still alive in the playoff hunt as they are five and a half games behind the Lakers for the final play-in spot with eight games left to play.

The Magic lost 118-102 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday. Chuma Okeke scored 19 points, on 6 for 16 shooting to lead the Magic. Additionally, he hit 50 percent of his 3-point shots, going 5 for 10 from beyond the arc. Not only that, but Cole Anthony contributed 17 points, on 5 for 9 shooting. Franz Wagner chipped in 15 points, on 6 for 12 shooting. Despite that, the Magic could not hit shots consistently or defend well. Orlando shot 38.7 percent from the field. The Magic also allowed the Thunder to shoot 48.1 percent. Orlando will look to bounce back against a short-handed Kings team.

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Kings have recently done well against the Magic at home and in Orlando. In its last 10 games, the Kings are 7-3 against the Magic. Sacramento has also gone 7-3 in 10 games on Orlando's home court. Sacramento and Orlando played  a highlight-reel barnburner in its last battle.

On December 8, 2021, the Kings defeated the Magic 142-130 in a Northern California tussle. Fox scored 33 points on 12 for 18 shooting. He also went 2 for 2 from the 3-point line. Tyrese Haliburton added 18 points, on 6 for 9 shooting. He was red-hot from beyond the arc, shooting 5 for 6. Haliburton now plays for the Indiana Pacers. Mitchell was a force in that game, as he contributed 18 points, on 7 for 10 shooting. Sacramento shot 54.6 percent collectively from the field. The win was also the highest output of points both teams have put up all season.

Sacramento will cover the spread if Jones, Metu, and Mitchell can lead the charge against the Magic. Metu's 23 points against the Pacers helped, and if he can replicate that performance, the Kings can take down the Magic.

Why The Magic Could Cover The Spread

Orlando could benefit from the absence of Fox and Sabonis. In their 142-130 loss to the Kings, those two were an enormous reason why Orlando fell short. However, the Magic did not lack any offense.

Anthony scored 33 points on 12 for 22 shooting, including 6 for 9 from beyond the arc. Wendell Carter Jr. delivered with 19 points on 7 for 14 shooting. Additionally, Wagner chipped in 19 points on 5 for 10 shooting. He also made both his shots from beyond the arc. He also nailed all seven free-throw attempts. The starters as a unit combined for a whopping 101 points. Orlando has allowed less than 100 points in two of its past three games. The Magic also excels in its ability to hit shots from the charity line.

Orlando is ninth in the NBA in free-throw percentage, as they have had success from the charity line. The Magic will cover if they can get to the free-throw line and convert its opportunities. The Magic needs to defend the Kings with vigor and prevent second-chance opportunities. They need Anthony and Carter Jr. to take charge and take advantage of the absence of two vital players for the Kings.

Final Kings-Magic Prediction & Pick

Without Fox and Sabonis, this will be a difficult game for the Kings. While they did beat Indiana, it might be too much asking for it to happen repeatedly. Sacramento will feel their absence. The Kings are not a great team. The Magic are not great either, but they have also won their last two home games. This is a chance for the Magic to gain some respectability to finish the season. While the Kings have fared well recently against the Magic, Orlando is the favorite in this game. Take the Magic to win and cover the spread.

Final Kings-Magic Prediction & Pick: Magic -3 (-110)
