The Los Angeles Lakers will head down to Texas as they take on the Houston Rockets for the last meeting between these two for the season. The Lakers currently sit in ninth place, just outside the playoffs, but just 4.5 games back from the Clippers. The Rockets on the other hand are last in the Western Conference, which basically means they have no shot at making the playoffs this season. With that, it’s time to continue our NBA odds series with a Lakers-Rockets prediction and pick.

Why The Lakers Can Cover The Spread

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently ranked 25th in the NBA in points allowed at 112.8 points per game and allowing a field goal percentage of 46.2% along with a 3-point percentage of 35.9%; both being ranked 18th in the league. Leading rebounder Anthony Davis will be sidelined for tonight's game and if LeBron James doesn't play either, the leading rebounder would then fall to Russell Westbrook with an average of 7.6 rebounds per game.

The Lakers are scoring an average of 110.6 points per game, which is ranked 13th in the league. With Davis and LeBron possibly out tonight, the leading scorer would be Westbrook, with an average of 18.1 points per game, and he's averaging 7.2 assists per game. We'll see what they can do here as they need to start winning games if they want to make the playoffs this year.

Why The Rockets Can Cover The Spread

The Houston Rockets are last in the league for points allowed at 117.9 points per game and allowing opposing teams to shoot 48.3% overall. Christian Wood generally leads this team in everything as he leads in rebounds per game (10.1) and points per game (17.9). With that said, he is questionable for the Rockets tonight after he missed Houston's last game. As a team, the Rockets are 18th in the league for scoring with an average of 108.6 points per game and shooting at a 45.1% overall, which is 24th in the league. The Rockets are also averaging 23.1 assists and 15.9 turnovers per game, which is a league-low 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Final Lakers-Rockets Prediction & Pick

Both of these teams haven't really been performing up to expectations so far this year, and it's evident by the lack of offense that these teams produce. I think this game turns into another “don't overthink it” kind of game, as the Lakers are a stacked (but injured) team. On the road tonight, give me the Lakers -5 even without Anthony Davis tonight. If LeBron doesn't play, I might switch it up and take Rockets Moneyline just for the value, but until that's official, give me the Lakers and the points tonight.

Final Lakers-Rockets Prediction and Pick: Lakers -5 (-110)
