The Detroit Pistons will travel to Ohio to take on their divisional rival, the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Pistons-Cavaliers prediction and pick.

The Cavaliers have been impressive to start the season. They are 7-5 and currently are fifth in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons seem to be the team they have been in the last decade. They are 2-8 and are last place in the East. Although this game has the potential to be a blowout, there is a more prominent storyline taking place, the first overall draft pick, Cade Cunningham, vs. the third overall draft pick, Evan Mobley.

Here's how sportsbooks have set the opening Pistons-Cavaliers odds.

NBA Odds: Pistons-Cavaliers Odds

Detroit Pistons +5 (-106)

Cleveland Cavaliers -5 (-114)

Why the Pistons Could Cover The Spread

The Pistons are 4-6 against the spread this season. They have reached the over in 40% of their games.

The Pistons were able to end their four-game skid in their last outing with a 112-104 road win over the Houston Rockets. A big part of Detroit's success in that game came down to their individual talent. Jeremiah Grant scored a season-high 35-points while shooting 52% from the field and 44% from three. Cade Cunningham also continues to look more comfortable every game, as he finished with a career-high 20 points and knocked down four three-pointers.

Cunningham and Grant were great in the last game, but if Detroit is to earn back-to-back wins for the first time this season, they will need to play better as a team and move the ball. The Pistons are currently 26th in assists, averaging 20.8 dimes a night. However, this could realistically happen as the Cavaliers give up an average of 24 dimes to opponents per game.

Why The Cavaliers Could Cover The Spread

The Cavaliers have the best record in the league against the spread. They have covered in nine of their twelve games this season. When it comes to the scoring total, Cleveland has gone over in just 33.3% of their games.

The Cavaliers suffered a heartbreaking loss in their last time out, losing to the Washington Wizards 97-94 on a three-pointer in the final 12-seconds. However, despite the loss, the Cavaliers continue to look strong defensively. It was their fourth game where they held their opponents under 100 points.

The Cavaliers' length in the frontcourt has allowed them to make opposing teams uncomfortable inside the paint.  J.B. Bickerstaff and his men allow the fourth-lowest field goal percentage in the NBA for shots taken less than five feet from the rim via NBA.com.

Offensively, the Cavaliers have been able to score from nearly everywhere on the court this season. They have six players averaging over 12 points and are shooting 46.2% from the floor (10th in the NBA). Rookie Evan Mobley is averaging 15.3 points per game, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 51.4% from the floor.

Final Pistons-Cavaliers Prediction & Pick

The Cavaliers are the better team this season, but with the way Cunningham has been playing recently and Grant's form from last game, the five-point spread feels 1.5 points too high. Therefore, the play here would be to attack the total. This is the lowest total of the night by 10 points. Even if the Cavaliers can keep the pistons under 100 points, if they can hit their season scoring average of 105 points, this should hit.

FINAL PISTONS-CAVALIERS PREDICTION & PICK: Over 200.5 (-110)
