These two teams have had very similar seasons so far. The Toronto Raptors have looked good at moments this season but have been struggling to come out of the break strong. While the Brooklyn Nets have made some major changes to their roster and are still trying to iron out the kinks. This should be a very interesting matchup.

Why The Raptors Could Cover The Spread

The Toronto Raptors have been a very interesting team this season. When things have gone their way they have looked like one of the most competitive teams in the league. Through their first 59 games, they've gone 32-27. The Raptors have been struggling out of the break though, dropping back-to-back games. Their first loss came against the Charlotte Hornets by 32, and their most recent defeat came at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks by 27. Toronto is trying to prove that they can still compete and a win on Monday would go a long way. Expect this team to come out firing with something to prove.

The main issue with this team recently is that when one player is having a good game, everyone else seems to step away and rather than build on that player's performance, try and lean on him to carry the team. In their loss to Charlotte that player was Scottie Barnes. Barnes was the only player who scored over 12 points, and he put up 28. With the lack of support from his team, they were dominated. In their loss to the Hawks that player was Fred VanVleet. VanVleet was one of two Raptors to score over 20, with 24 points. The Raptors have the talent and depth to play solid team basketball, but they have been struggling to play up to their potential.

For the most part, this Raptors team has been healthy, however, they currently have two players listed on their injury report. Fred VanVleet is listed as questionable for the match. This would be a devastating absence for Toronto as he is possibly their best source of offense. OG Anunoby is officially listed as out. While most of their team is healthy, Toronto could potentially be missing two top contributors.

Why The Nets Could Cover The Spread

Prior to the start of the season, many people had the Nets pegged as favorites to win it all, however for a number of reasons this team has struggled. So, after some big changes, Brooklyn is ready to make a deep run in the playoffs. Through their first 61 games, the Nets barely have a winning record with only 32 wins and 29 losses. They are coming off a three-point victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. While that game may not have been the epitome of a team effort, it was still a solid win for this Nets team. Brooklyn will look to build on that win on Monday as they face off against the Raptors.

Led by Kyrie's 38 point performance, the Nets were able to score an impressive victory over the Bucks. It was a very welcome sight to see that Brooklyn is still able to compete at a high level without its best player. The Raptors are another tough opponent, and while banking on one player to have an outstanding night may be a losing move, the Nets are much more than just Kyrie. Four other players contributed double-digit scoring in that match and played quality minutes. Brooklyn has a pretty deep roster and if they can all have a solid game on Monday then they could easily end up on top.

The biggest roadblock for the Nets is injuries and unavailable players. As everyone knows, Kyrie is not eligible to play in home games and this match will be played in Brooklyn. This is a devastating blow to a team that is currently without Kevin Durant and their newly acquired star, Ben Simmons. Additionally, Joe Harris is still out with an injury. Being without these four guys means that Brooklyn will only be a shell of themselves and are very tough to pick to win this contest.

Final Raptors-Nets Prediction & Pick

Given the injury situation, this is an easy pick. The Nets without Kyrie, KD, Simmons, and Joe Harris are not even the Nets anymore. The Raptors may be without VanVleet but they still have a team that can compete. Toronto should have no problem coming out on top in this match. Pick the Raptors to win and cover.
