The Phoenix Suns are beginning a five-game road trip and are starting on Monday at Fiserv Forum against the Milwaukee Bucks. With that said, it’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Suns-Bucks prediction and pick.

The Suns and the Bucks are both fresh from double-digit losses on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies respectively. The Suns are currently sitting in the second seed in the Western Conference with a record of 40-16 while the Bucks are sitting in the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 35-21.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Suns-Bucks odds.

NBA Odds: Suns-Bucks Odds

Phoenix Suns +2.5 (-111)

Milwaukee Bucks -2.5 (-109)

Over 233.5 Points (-107)

Under 233.5 Points(-113)

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread

Chris Paul, Suns

The Suns have been playing great basketball to climb to the 2nd seed in the Western Conference. Coach Monty Williams’ team is ranked with the 7th best offensive rating and 5th best defensive rating in the league.

Offensively this team is being led by their dynamic backcourt of Chris Paul and Devin Booker.

CP3 is averaging 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game while Booker has been putting up 25.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. The two are both shooting very efficiently from the floor at almost 50 percent and nearly 40 percent from behind the three-point line.

Defensively, the Suns have Deandre Ayton anchoring the paint who is averaging 1.1 blocks and 7.5 defensive rebounds per game. Additionally, every player on this Phoenix team takes pride in their ability to guard their individual defensive assignment which makes them such a great team.

To cover the spread on Monday, the Suns will need to rely on their defense to slow down Giannis and have an opportunity to cover the spread.

Why The Bucks Could Cover The Spread

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks

The Bucks are still trying to figure out their identity and increasing their depth after adding some key pieces like Jeff Teague and P.J. Tucker to their roster.

Coach Mike Budenholzer's team is ranked with the 5th best offensive rating and 6th best defensive rating in the league.

Offensively this team is being led by their Big Three of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday. These three players for the Bucks are averaging a combined 65.7 points, 17.9 rebounds, and 17.2 assists per game while all shooting nearly 50 percent from the field.

This Big Three has been very productive for Coach Budenholzer but the problem with the Bucks has been not having enough offensive production from the rest of the team.

Defensively, the Bucks have both Giannis and Brook Lopez anchoring the paint and are averaging 1.3 and 1.4 blocks per game respectively. This Milwaukee team also has very great individual defenders in Holiday and Middleton in their backcourt.

To cover the spread on Monday, the Bucks will need to force the ball out of the hands of Devin Booker who is the main offensive weapon for the Suns.

Final Suns-Bucks Prediction & Pick

This is a matchup between two of the best offensive and defensive teams in the NBA. The edge goes to the Bucks who have a bit more experience and a bit more depth offensively and defensively. Expect Booker to have a tough night offensively especially against a great individual defender and arguably the best guard defender in the league in Holiday. The Bucks should pick up a big win on Monday at home as the Suns drop their second consecutive game.

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION & PICK FOR SUNS-BUCKS: PHX 104, MIL 112 (MIL -2.5)
