Phoenix is looking to cap off a three-game sweep of the Golden State Warriors this season. The Suns have won the first two games by a combined 43 points. With crucial seeding implications for both, which Western Conference group will have the edge in this game?

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Suns-Warriors odds.

Under 229.5 Points (-110)

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread

The Phoenix Suns have had a phenomenal season and are red-hot coming into this game. They have won six of their last eight games, but will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to the depleted Lakers on Sunday. Phoenix played well in the game as a group, but ran into an extremely motivated Laker team with Anthony Davis. Cameron Payne led the way for the Suns with 24 points on 9-10 shooting from the field off the bench. Book and CP had decent outings and the Suns shot 53% collectively.

Phoenix has certainly been better at home this year, but their road record doesn't take much of a dip. At 22-11 this season, the Suns seem comfortable playing away from home. They're 18-14-1 ATS and shoot over 48% as a club on the road. The Suns offense has been their bread and butter, but it's their defense that has been extremely impressive. Phoenix allows just under 110 points per game in 2021, which is good for seventh in the NBA. The Suns depth gives them a clear advantage in this matchup as well.

Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread

The Golden State Warriors have been such a great story this season. Everyone starting writing them off when we found out about the Klay Thompson injury before the season started. They were up-and-down early on, but this team exploded when Steph decided to take his game to a whole new level that we haven't seen from him in years. Curry is now a walking 30 points as he's averaging 31.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game this season. With little depth, it's been on Steph to carry this group on his back, which he has done quite well.

Golden State now sits in the eighth spot out west, which is significant for one reason. If they the Grizzlies surpass them, the Warriors will end up in the nine-ten game in the play-in tournament. Slipping to the ninth seed will mean that the Warriors have to win two games instead of one to reach the postseason. You know Steph doesn't want to be in that situation and it will be up to Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green to help lead the Warriors to prosperity. The Warriors are coming off of a huge win against Utah last night and will look to carry that momentum into this one.

Final Suns-Warriors Prediction & Pick

The Golden State Warriors have become the most exciting team to watch thanks to Stephen Curry. What this guy has been doing down the stretch is incredible. Although I'm very aware that 30 is capable of beating teams by himself, this Phoenix team isn't just another team. The Suns are arguably the most talented team from top to bottom and play some of the best offense AND defense in the NBA. Golden State's victory last night against the top-seeded Jazz was impressive, but to ask them to repeat that performance on the back end of a back-to-back against the second-seeded Suns is a bit to much.

FINAL PICK: Phoenix Suns -5.5 (-110)
