The NBA regular season continues with games on Monday. The Golden State Warriors will hit the road and take on the Houston Rockets. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Warriors-Rockets prediction and pick.

These two teams have had very different starts to the season. The Warriors are 37-13 and have won their last five games, while the Rockets are only 14-35 and have lost their last three games.

Houston Rockets: +10.5 (-106)

Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread

The Warriors have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season and have won five games in a row, with their most recent victory coming over the Brooklyn Nets by four. The Rockets are a much worse opponent than even a shorthanded Nets team, but they can't be underestimated, especially considering they nearly beat Golden State not too long ago.

Stephen Curry is still trying to fully break out of his slump. It seemed as if he did against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but then he struggled against Brooklyn. While it has been a rough January for Steph in terms of shooting the ball, he's hoping to finish the month on a strong note against a weak opponent. Curry struggled in the last matchup against the Rockets, though he did hit a game-winner at the buzzer.

The good news is that even with Curry struggling and Draymond Green injured, the Warriors are cooking again after a brief lull. They can beat you on both ends of the court by getting up a bunch of 3-point shots and playing elite defense, and Klay Thompson is slowly but surely finding himself again.

In addition to Green, Golden State will be without some key veterans in Andre Iguodala and Otto Porter Jr. However, the loaded Dubs should still be able to run it up against the struggling Rockets, especially if Curry finds his stroke.

Why The Rockets Could Cover The Spread

The Rockets came into this season expecting to lose a lot of games, and they have certainly done that. Houston started the season 1-16 and then somehow won seven games in a row before falling back into a bunch of losses again.

The Rockets are losers of three straight contests, with the last defeat coming at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers by 15 points. Houston's league-worst defense played a key role in the loss, with 125 points allowed on the night. The Rockets also live and die by the 3-point shot, and in this game they died by going 10-of-41 from deep.

Houston hung tough with Golden State last time by actually getting stops, bolstered by Stephen Curry's slump. For the Rockets to have a chance in this one, they need to buckle down defensively and hope Curry is cold again. It would certainly also help to get hot from 3-point range to put pressure on the Warriors' defense.

On the injury front, Houston is actually doing okay, though Kevin Porter Jr. is listed as questionable. If Porter plays, the Rockets will be able to put their best players on the court and try to pull off this upset. Anything can happen, as we nearly saw the last time these two teams played.

Final Warriors-Rockets Prediction & Pick

It's important to note that the last time these two teams played, Klay Thompson didn't suit up, so that likely played a role in the game being so close. Betting on another close game between these two teams seems like a losing play. The Warriors are the better team and should be able to blow out Houston if they have even a decent shooting night. Pick Golden State to win and cover.
