The Orlando Magic have the worst record in the NBA at 9-39, so it only makes sense that they'll be looking to trade off some veterans for assets ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline. NBA insider Marc Stein wrote on his Substack that Terrence Ross and Gary Harris are two trade candidates, and Stein notes “some teams regard Ross as a natural target” for the Los Angeles Lakers or Utah Jazz.

Why is that? Both teams are “seeking a defensive-minded wing player” while “possessing limited trade assets to make an impact trade in the next 17 days.”

Calling Ross a “defensive-minded wing player” is pretty generous here, as he's more known for getting buckets. But given the reality that neither team has all that much to offer in trades, perhaps they'd be willing to trade for Ross.

The Lakers have been putting feelers out there using Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn and their 2027 first-round pick, but nobody is biting. The Jazz are reportedly open to trading Joe Ingles, but would Ross be much of an upgrade over him?

Ross is averaging 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 40.6% from the field and 31.0% from 3-point land. Those numbers certainly aren't all that impressive, so perhaps one of these teams could actually get him for relatively cheap if they actually want him. He's currently in Year 3 of four-year deal and is making $12.5 million this season.

Either way, Terrence Ross will be a trade situation to monitor as the deadline gets closer and closer.
