Carmelo Anthony is a future Hall of Famer. He is one of the greatest scorers of this generation, and at the age of 35, he still has something left in the tank as he chases that elusive NBA title.

However, Anthony has seemingly fallen out of favor with executives around the league. Anthony played just 10 games with the Houston Rockets last season, and he remains unsigned as this summer window comes to a close.

The former Knicks and Nuggets star has been very vocal about his desire to continue playing, appearing in a one-on-one interview with Stephen A. Smith to express his love for the game and assert that he has continued to work tirelessly on his game.

On Sunday afternoon, 14-year veteran and current BIG3 star Stephen Jackson posted a message in Anthony's defense, saying Melo still has plenty to offer teams around the league.

Jackson's assertion that Anthony is being “blackballed” by NBA owners is not totally unfounded. Anthony is just two years removed from averaging over 22 points per game. Although he struggled to fit in with teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Rockets in the past few seasons, he is still a proven scorer and a decent rebounder that could be a vital bench piece for any contender.

Anthony has continued to receive scrutiny for his deficiencies on the defensive end, and his efficiency has certainly dropped in recent years. There are also questions about his willingness to actually accept a role as a bench player. However, Melo told Smith that he is fully capable of buying into any role.

It remains to be seen whether or not he will be signed before the start of the regular season, though it should be encouraging for Anthony to receive plenty of support from his peers.
