The Boston Celtics is one of the most storied franchises in the NBA. There have been a number of great players who have donned their Green and White jerseys, including legends like Larry Bird, Bill Russell, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish, just to name a few. However, for team president Danny Ainge, he said that all point guards that will play for the team will be compared to another former player of Boston.

The veteran front office executive shared, via Jared Weiss of Celtics Wire, that he thinks all playmakers who’ll be part of the Celtics from now on will have to measured against Isaiah Thomas. He then added that Thomas gave his best during his stint in Beantown, and is an unbelievable basketball player for Ainge.

He was all in with us and we were all in with him and he had an amazing platform and he went from a guy that bounced around a little bit from Sacramento to Phoenix and then came to Boston and found a home and played unbelievable basketball last year. Going forward, all point guards that play great in Celtics uniform will be compared to Isaiah Thomas and how they compare to him.”
Thomas spent the last three seasons with the Celtics, where he has played the best basketball of his professional career so far. He became the team's leader, and established himself as one of the elite players in the NBA today. He was also named an All-Star twice, and helped the C's make deep runs in the playoffs as well.

Now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Isaiah Thomas will have the chance to further cement his place as a star in league. Playing alongside LeBron James, Kevin Love, and Dwyane Wade, among others, will also give him the opportunity to learn from perennial All-Stars, and will be able to continue contending for a title with his new team.
