The Charlotte Hornets and Mitch Kupchak are expected to reach a formal agreement as the new president of basketball operations and general manager of the franchise, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Charlotte Hornets have made significant progress in contract talks with Mitch Kupchak to become President of Basketball Operations and General Manager, and a formal agreement is expected to be reached soon, league sources told ESPN.

This comes days after it was reported that Kupchak was formally offered the position. And previously Kupchak had denied contact with the Hornets organization.

Former GM Rich Cho departed from the team in February and Kupchak's North Carolina ties seem to make him a good fit alongside Michael Jordan.
The Los Angeles Lakers fired Kupchak back in February of 2017 after 35 years with the franchise. He was there when the Lakers franchise won its three-peat from 2000-2002.
A new GM is always an important part of any team's rebuild. It will be interesting to see the direction the Hornets take under Kupchak's leadership.
