The 2018 NBA Draft Lottery is going to the Windy City. According to a report from The Associated Press, the NBA will hold its annual draft lottery in Chicago on May 15, the first time the event will be held outside of New York or New Jersey.
The NFL and NHL have held their respective drafts in Chicago in recent years, although the NBA’s draft proper will remain in New York. The NBA also holds the draft combine in Chicago and will take place on May 16-20.
The draft lottery’s arrival in Chicago will come at an opportune time as the Bulls are expected to be one of the contenders for the top overall pick. The Bulls are currently 1-5 this season, the fourth-worst record in the league ahead of only the Sacramento Kings, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Dallas Mavericks.

The Bulls are already planning for the possibility of landing a top pick. General manager Gar Forman is expected to go see highly-touted European prospect Luka Doncic next month. Incoming college freshmen Michael Porter Jr., Marvin Bagley III, and DeAndre Ayton are also being projected as potential top picks.
The Bulls have won the lottery to land the No. 1 overall pick twice in the franchise's history: in 1999, when they selected Elton Brand, and 2008, when they selected Derrick Rose.
