If The Chicago Bulls are defeated in Tuesday night's home game against the Los Angeles Lakers, they will officially be eliminated from this season's playoff hunt:

Currently, the Bulls are holding a 19-49 overall record, which ranks 13th in the Eastern Conference standings. They've lost four of their last five games, including Sunday's 131-108 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Pistons:

“We've got to learn from the Pistons,” Bulls coach Jim Boylen told ESPN after Sunday's short-handed loss. “Their bench guys come off with force. They take pride in their minutes and they play them the best they can and they sit down and root for the other guys. … They've got a couple stars, they've got some good role players and they've got guys that can play their minutes. They have maturity.”

The Bulls have struggled for the majority of this campaign. In fact, the team hasn't had a winning record all season. Injuries have played a role, to be sure, and there was a lot of drama when Jim Boylen took over for Fred Hoiberg.

Like Chicago, Los Angeles (30-36 and 11th in the West) has struggled to find a rhythm. At the beginning of this season, most experts viewed the Lakers as a playoff team. They did, after all, add LeBron James to their roster. Now, it looks LeBron will be missing the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

Tuesday night's Bulls-Lakers game is scheduled to tip inside the United Center at 8:00 p.m. ET.
