Chicago Bulls superstar DeMar DeRozan has accrued enough playoff experience to understand that the mental approach is of the utmost importance. In the most DeMar DeRozan way possible, the Bulls leader sent the following message to his teammates in preparation for the postseason.
“Enjoy it. Don’t treat it like you’re going to jail or something.”
DeMar DeRozan has 58 games of playoff experience throughout his career. He has averaged 21.9 points in those games. However, DeRozan has yet to win a championship. His Bulls struggled to end the season but DeRozan placed himself in the MVP conversation with a phenomenal 2021-2022 performance. He posted a career high 27.9 points per game on over 50 percent field goal and 35 percent three-point shooting. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 5 assists per game for good measure.
Despite the Bulls late season struggles, Chicago clinched the six-seed and avoided the play-in tournament. Nonetheless, the Bulls will need to figure things out if they have a realistic shot of making a deep run in the postseason. But they will need to go through Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round.

And that alone is probably what led DeRozan to say what he said. The Bulls players need to enjoy the playoffs and feel loose on the court. If they grow tense it may lead to mistakes. They also need to remember that they still had a quality season overall.
With superstar DeMar DeRozan leading the way, Chicago has a chance of upsetting the odds against Giannis and the Bucks. However, he is going to need help from his teammates if the Bulls want to dethrone the reigning champs.
