Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen was disappointed with his team's effort after squandering another chance at a win, this time against a Kyrie Irving-less Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

The Bulls started flat, quickly falling behind by 11 points in the first quarter, only to come back in the second and trot out a plus-17 advantage to lead by six at the half. The tough-minded coach was disappointed in his team's poor start at home, and how that eventually manifested in giving up a 43-point quarter to the Nets in the final period.

“Listen, nobody likes losing games. There’s no shame in losing an NBA game. It happens every day,” said Boylen, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “What I’m disappointed in is our start, a home game, on a Saturday night in Chicago. I didn’t like the way we started. I can’t play for them. They gotta come out and do it.”

Despite a 36-point game from star Zach LaVine and a pair of double-doubles from Wendell Carter Jr. and a struggling Lauri Markkanen, the Bulls simply let up with their iso-heavy, shot-jacking tendencies against a more efficient Nets team.

Chicago has now racked up two straight losses, and three of their last four — and it doesn't get any easier with the Milwaukee Bucks up next on Monday. However, Boylen is just hoping for a 48-minute effort, no matter the result.

If the Bulls can fix their slow starts, they might just have a chance at winning more games in the near future.
