It’s been a very tough week for Dwyane Wade.
First came the news about his cousin’s untimely death, followed by how Donald Trump used the unfortunate event for political gains.
The Chicago Bulls star sat down with ABC News to address the larger societal issue that we’re facing, which encapsulates the incident wherein his cousin became a hapless victim, and this made him look back on his decision to go home this season.
“My purpose for being back in the city is bigger than basketball.”
“Basketball is a big part of it, of course. It's what I do for a living. But I think my purpose at the end of the day is hopefully to come to Chicago and be a part and be the voice that can help bring people together.”
Dwyane Wade has already won three championships. He has seen it all. But that doesn’t mean the Bulls can expect less from him.
Players like Wade carry a bigger responsibility than his other peers. His status makes anything he says resonate more significantly to a wider audience. That is why, during times like these, Chicago is fortunate to have The Flash in their corner.
