Derrick Rose will always hold a special place in the hearts of Chicago Bulls fans, and on Wednesday night at the United Center, that was made very clear, as Bulls fans gave he Minnesota Timberwolves guard a standing ovation during introductions and serenaded him with “MVP” chants at the free-throw line.

Prior to the game, a fan actually asked Rose to drop 82 points on the night:

Not sure about the “greatest point guard of all-time” line from the fan, but you have to love the support.

Rose went on to score 26 points off 11-of-19 shooting in 38 minutes, adding eight assists in a 119-94 win. It was just the latest performance in what has been a Renaissance year for Rose.

Earlier in the season, the 30-year-old dropped a career-high 50 points in a win over the Utah Jazz, shocking the basketball world.

Overall this year, Rose is averaging 18.7 points, 4.7 assists and 2.8 rebounds over 29.5 minutes per game while shooting 48.9 percent from the floor, 45.5 percent from three-point range and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The fact that Rose has suddenly found his three-point shot is the most stunning development out of all of this, as he is a lifetime 30.8 percent three-point shooter and hadn't shot 30 percent from long distance since the 2013-14 campaign.

The Timberwolves signed Rose last season after the Jazz waived him following a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Chicago native owns career averages of 18.9 points, 5.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. He has made three All-Star Games and has a Most Valuable Player award under his belt, taking home the honor back in 2011.
