The Mavs bested the Hawks in an exciting match that ended in Dallas' 122-116 victory. The Slovenian led the way with 27 points, eight rebounds and 14 assists. He also made contributions on the defensive side with two steals and a block.
The win was especially important to the Mavs, as it put a halt to their six-game losing streak. Kristaps Porziņgis had another double-double for Dallas and finished with 24 points and 11 boards, while Tim Hardaway Jr. stepped up off the bench with 22 points.
Dallas improves their record to 9-13, though they are still a bit behind in contention for a playoff spot in the tough Western Conference. The Mavs have struggled to put consistent, offensive performances as of late. Also, Dallas had to deal with injury woes and COVID-19 health and safety protocols that forced some of its key players out.
Hopefully, as the season progresses, the Mavs gel even more and start sinking their outside shots.
The Hawks fall to 10-11 despite John Collins dropping 35 points and hauling in 12 rebounds. Young chimed in 21 points, four rebounds and nine assists, while Kevin Huerter scored 21 on top of five rebounds and 10 assists. Atlanta is attempting to make a return to the postseason for the first time since the 2016-2017 season. They are nestled in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
