Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle told local reporters that Mavs rookie phenom Luka Doncic will not play on Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Doncic is dealing with a right thigh contusion. He missed the Mavs' previous game on Sunday versus the Oklahoma City Thunder, a game which Dallas surprisingly won.

After tonight's game against Philly, the Mavs have five games remaining in the regular season.

Luka Doncic is averaging 21.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game this season while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from beyond the arc and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line. Rick Carlisle previously reiterated that he won't let Luka play unless he's 100 percent.

The Mavs are going to miss the playoffs for the third consecutive year. Other than Doncic's stellar campaign, it's been another disappointing season in Dallas.

Leading all rookies in points per game, Doncic has 22 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles on the season. He is widely expected to win the Rookie of the Year award, although Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is closing the gap.

The Mavs and its fans can't wait for next season to start, with Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis expected to play together and form a dynamic duo.
