Mavs swingman Luka Doncic will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday night's home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to a report from Dwain Price of Mavs.com.

Doncic has missed the last two games with a right thigh contusion. The injury occurred in Thursday’s game against the Miami Heat. The Slovenian-born star went knee-to-knee with Miami’s Derrick Jones Jr. Now, however, it sounds like Doncic has recovered enough to reclaim his spot in the starting rotation:

At 31-46 overall, this hasn't been a great season for the Mavs. In fact, they're currently ranked 14th in the Western Conference standings. But with this campaign coming to an end, Doncic didn't want to miss any more time:

“When I miss games it’s hard for me,” Doncic told Price after Wednesday morning’s shootaround at AAC. “I just want to be there on the court.

“I know this season is going to end soon, so I just want to play,” Doncic added. “And after this season, it’s going to be a long time until we play.”

Though his injury wasn't severe, the fact that Doncic has been cleared to play is certainly good news for Mavs fans, as he is an integral part of the team's future.

In 70 appearances with Dallas this season (all starts), Doncic has racked up averages of 21.1 points on 42.5 percent shooting from the field (32.7 percent from beyond the arc), 7.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 32.2 minutes per outing.

Wednesday night's Mavs-Timberwolves game is scheduled to tip inside the American Airlines Center at 8:30 p.m ET.
