Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Luka Doncic plans to participate in the Skills Competition at All-Star weekend in Charlotte, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Watch Stadium.

The event takes place on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Spectrum Center, home of the Charlotte Hornets.

In his first season in the NBA, Luka Doncic is averaging 19.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game for the Mavs. The 19-year-old has proven to be a good playmaker, so he should do pretty well in the Skills Competition.

The Skills Challenge is where players have to showcase their dribble, passing and shooting skills. The first part of the competition requires the players to dribble in a zigzag motion around some obstacles, followed by making a pass through a hole.

The players then have to race down from one end to the other to make a layup, and then back to the other end to make a 3-pointer. The player who hits the 3-pointer first wins the round. Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie won the competition last season, defeating Chicago Bulls forward Lauri Markkanen in the final round.

Luka Doncic has demonstrated that he's a great passer, so he should do fine on the passing part of the competition. Making that pass is usually the hardest part of the challenge for players.
