Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic took the NBA by storm when he entered the league in the 2018-2019 season. He won NBA Rookie of the Year and made the All-Rookie team. He continued to dominate the league at the tender age of 20 in his second season. However, despite his statistics remaining steady, the last couple of seasons the Mavs star has shown up to start the year in unexpected shape.

On The Lowe Post pod, ESPN's Tim MacMahon was noted that Doncic has come into the last two seasons weighing 260 pounds.

That's a bit heavy for the All-Star point guard. Doncic is obviously still a baller and one of the game's best all-around players, but his numbers have been reflected in the change.

Each of the past two seasons, Doncic's stats have all headed in the wrong direction. His scoring has gone down, as well as his rebounding and assists per game. Doncic's shooting percentage and free-throw percentages has even dropped gone down each year. His turnover rate, though, is at a career high this season. He is turning the ball over almost five times per game.

There are other factors why we have seen a dip in production. A lot of that time, Mavs teammate Kristaps Porzingis has missed games with injury. That puts a lot more defensive focus on Doncic.

Either way, it has been a disappointing start to the season for the Mavs. They are 11-11 and are only two games ahead of the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are the No. 11 seed and not slated to make the play-in tournament.
