In his opinion, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown thinks Mavs phenom Luka Doncic will win Rookie of the Year this season.

Brown coached last year's winner, Sixers star point-forward Ben Simmons.

Both Doncic and Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young have had strong seasons, similar to how Simmons and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell were both special last season.

Only one player can win the award, though, and Brown is going with Doncic:

For the Mavs this season, Luka Doncic is averaging 21.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from beyond the arc and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The 20-year-old has registered 22 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles on the season. Luka leads all rookies in points per game.

Young has been stellar this season too, but Doncic has been more consistent. Plus, Luka plays in the Western Conference and the Mavs rely on him a lot. Doncic is tied with Ben Gordon for the highest usage rate in NBA history for a rookie.

Jason Kidd is the only Mavs player to win Rookie of the Year. He was the co-Rookie of the Year with Detroit Pistons small forward Grant Hill back in 1995.

All signs point toward Doncic becoming the second Mavs player to win the award.
