The NBA's trade season will now begin to pick up steam.
With two months to go before the deadline in February, more than 120 players became eligible to be traded by their teams as December 15 marks the third month since players signed their contracts last summer.
Trade restrictions have now been lifted for 125 players. Still close to 50 players who cannot be traded or have some type of restriction. https://t.co/ZFQwtVBeiD

However, it does not necessarily mean that teams will start making a number of trades given that some of their players can now be moved. In the past, deals have been made as the deadline nears and even up to the last minute the window is open. In the last two seasons, only one trade was made in each year with Rajon Rondo‘s move to the Dallas Mavericks in 2014 being the more significant one.
Another reason for franchises not opting to make trades yet is they want to wait and see what their current lineups can produce.
Still, there are some teams who are already looking to get key pieces they need from the trade market and it won't come as a surprise if rumors will begin to surface in the next few days leading up to the February trade deadline.
