The Denver Nuggets are in a tough position heading into the rest of the 2022 season because they have been dealt with some bad injuries this year and last year.

Both Michael Porter Jr and Jamal Murray are two players who are reportedly potentially going to be back for the playoffs this year and that could make a huge difference for this Denver team. If both of them can return and be healthy, they're going to be a team that can make some noise and potentially win an NBA title.

In order for Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets to win an NBA title, they're going to have to avoid some major mistakes that could be made this year. Let's take a look at three areas the Nuggets must avoid in order to win an NBA championship.

3. Go all in

If the Denver Nuggets are fully healthy, they are one of the best teams in all of basketball. They have an MVP who is arguably the best player in the NBA in Jokic, a star in Jamal Murray, and a scoring threat in Michael Porter Jr.

The rest of the Nuggets team isn't necessarily bad by any means but they are certainly not good enough to win an NBA championship. There are many pieces that they can go out and get to help build their roster better than what it is now. Fortunately for Denver, there are many options that they could decide to trade. There are some guys on some questionable contracts but that isn't always a bad thing. Every contract in the NBA is always tradable and that's going to be perfect for this Nuggets team come trade deadline time.

If the Nuggets are going to want to compete with a team like the Golden State Warriors or the Phoenix Suns come playoff time, they're going to have to go out and make a move. They also have to factor in that Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr could potentially return this year but might not be as good as they were before the injury. It is common if a player does not come back as the same player that he was prior to his injury until he really gets back into conditioning shape and also just finds his touch again.

The Nuggets need to realize that they do have the talent to win an NBA title and if they can just make a few moves, they are a team that no one is going to want to face in the Western Conference.

2. Make sure that Michael Porter Jr and Jamal Murray are both fully healthy

The biggest mistake that the Nuggets could make this year is bringing back Porter Jr and Murray if they are still injured. Obviously, the Nuggets are going to do everything they can in order to win an NBA championship but they need to realize the risks that they are taking.

Both of these guys are two of the best in the NBA and they are certainly a huge part of this team's future. There would be no reason for the Nuggets to allow both of them to come back before they are 100% healthy and if they do so, it could result in them getting re-injured and being out for even longer than they already were.

If they are both fully healthy and they are confident in that, then they need to have them on the court because if they can both return to what they were before their injuries, they will be sitting in a very good position.

1. Get the job done

There's not much more to say about this Nuggets team if they do get Michael Porter Jr and Jamal Murray back. Factor in that they have Nikola Jokic and there is no reason why the Nuggets should not be able to get the job done. Last year, they did have a great chance of making a deep run into the playoffs but did run into some tough injuries and couldn't get the job done against the Phoenix Suns.

This year, it isn't going to be any easier as they are going to have to take down some very tough teams in the Western Conference and also get by some teams who are sneaky and can beat you if you are not playing your best basketball such as the Memphis Grizzlies. The Western Conference is certainly better than it was a year ago and if the Nuggets are not fully healthy, there is a chance that they will not have a good showing in the playoffs.

Nikola Jokic is certainly good enough to be the number one option on a championship team so every year that he doesn't win a championship is certainly a disappointment for the Nuggets organization. They need to do everything they can to make sure that he is surrounded by the players that he needs and getting Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr back are the first steps in doing that.
