After a promising start to this season, the Nuggets have dropped four straight games, including Tuesday night's 109-99 loss to the Houston Rockets. Denver point guard Isaiah Thomas doesn't seem all that concerned, though. In fact, he says his team can just as easily rattle off a winning streak.

For the Nuggets, Tuesday night marked their first double digit loss of the season. Rockets All-Star James Harden was the root of the problem. In his 37 minutes of playing time, the former No. 3 overall pick racked up 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field (2-of-10 from beyond the arc), 11 assists, five rebounds, three steals and one block.

“I just take what the defense gives me,” Harden told ESPN after Tuesday's game. “I trusted the guys to make the right passes. Our bigs did a great job of finding those passing pockets. It requires patience, especially as a playmaker.

“It's going to take time, but we're getting there. If we keep guarding and defending at a high level our offense will come around. Once we put both together, it's going to get scary.”

Thomas, now 29 years of age, did not play in Tuesday's match-up against the Rockets, as he is currently dealing with a hip injury. At this time, there is no timetable set for his return.

“It’s day-by-day,” Nuggets head coach Mike Malone told Harrison Wind of BSNDenver.com earlier this month, referring to Thomas' status. “We haven’t put a timeline out there from the get-go. When he comes back, we’re going to make sure he’s ready to come back and play and play at a high level.”

Thomas spent last season with two teams: the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers. In his 32 combined games played, the Washington native posted averages of 15.2 points on 37.2 percent shooting (29.0 percent from downtown), 4.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds.

There have been some reports indicating that Thomas might be well enough to play by December, but the Nuggets will likely be cautious in their approach.

The Nuggets (9-5 and 2nd in the Northwest Division) will be back in action on Thursday night, when they'll welcome the Atlanta Hawks to the Pepsi Center. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. EST.
