Stephen Curry remains a question mark for the Golden State Warriors in their first-round clash with the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs. However, Nikola Jokic is not listening to the reports and is instead focusing on preparing for the scenario that Curry plays.

Jokic knows very well the threat that Curry brings, which is why he doesn't want the team to be complacent and think that the sharpshooter will not be available — even just for Game 1.

Stephen Curry is progressing well in his recovery from the left foot injury he suffered last March. He missed the Warriors' final 12 games of the season because of the issue, so there are legitimate concerns whether or not he'll be ready when the playoffs start on Saturday.

Of course it didn't help that the Warriors have not disclosed the current condition of their star sharpshooter, noting that his status for the game will be determined by his progress in his workout and on-court activities this week.

With that said, Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets are definitely right to have that mentality of preparing to face Curry. They will have to anyway at one point in the postseason even if he misses the first game.

For what it's worth, it's not totally surprising that Jokic is wary of Curry. To recall, back in January, the reigning NBA MVP admitted that Curry impresses him the most among the current crop of NBA players because of the way he plays and shoots the ball:

“For sure it's Steph Curry. I say that to pretty much everyone. If you don't like watching him play, you probably don't like watching basketball as a sport altogether. He plays in such a lucid way, I sometimes catch myself thinking: ‘Look at what this guy is doing', but my God, his shots just keep falling. He pulls up from such distances, I feel like my shots wouldn't even reach from that far away,” Jokic explained, per Sports Illustrated.

The Warriors (53-29) finished third in the West and so will host the sixth-seeded Nuggets (48-34) to open what is expected to be an intense series. They play Game 1 on Saturday.
