It was an historic evening for Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic on Friday. The 23-year-old went absolutely nuts in his team's matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, and in the process, joined Alonzo Mourning and Bill Walton in a very specific statistical category.

According to a redditor that goes by the name r/moneyball, Jokic joined a very elite and exclusive list of players who have scored at least 35 points and grabbed at least 20 rebounds in less than 35 minutes of action.

Jokic had his best game of the season on Friday, putting up 37 big points (14-22 FG, 8-10 FT) along with 21 boards. The 6-foot-10 center also chipped in one 3-pointer, three assists, one steal, and two blocks to round out easily his best performance this term.

Unfortunately for Jokic, his historic outing came in a losing effort as the Nuggets fell to the Nets 112-110 courtesy of a Caris LeVert buzzer-beater.

After winning nine out of their first ten games, the Nuggets have now lost two straight, bringing their record to 9-3 to open the new campaign.

The team's success has been thanks in large part to Jokic's outstanding play thus far. In his first 12 appearances this season, the former 41st overall pick has been averaging 17.6 points on 53.7 percent shooting, 1.0 3-pointers, 10.7 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.0 blocks, and 3.3 turnovers in just 29.3 minutes of action.

Jokic cashed in over the summer, signing a humongous five-year, $148 max deal with the Nuggets. Thus far, he has been proving to the entire world that he is worth every penny.
