The Denver Nuggets fell short in the NBA playoffs, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games in the Western Conference Finals. After Denver's impressive season in 2019-2020, the Nuggets could look to make a move for Jrue Holiday — again — this offseason, per the Denver Post's Mike Singer.
Ahead of the NBA trade deadline in 2019-2020, the Nuggets apparently had internal discussions on possibly acquiring Holiday. However, Denver would refrain from making a trade for the veteran two-guard, keeping him in New Orleans.
But after the Nuggets failed to pull the trigger for Holiday during the season, they could possibly move one of Gary Harris or Will Barton for him, per Singer:
My gut tells me the Nuggets leave no stone unturned this offseason. There was chatter at the deadline around Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if those discussions get revisited. Holiday has one year left on his contract before he can become a free agent, so the Nuggets would need to asses whether they think he could be a long-term play or if they’re comfortable going for it next season. I think Gary Harris and/or Will Barton could absolutely be used in a trade to land a player like that, along with at least one or two first-round picks. The Nuggets have No. 22 (via Houston) this upcoming draft.
Earlier this week, George Karl — the legendary former coach of the Nuggets — shared that he believes the team should unload Michael Porter Jr. for Holiday.
Regardless of who is involved in the trade for Holiday, the Nuggets seem interested in reopening talks about landing Holiday via trade this offseason.
