Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has always been a top candidate to get a technical foul. On Wednesday night, he got one early in Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals after getting involved in yet another verbal skirmish with Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristan Thompson. Thompson also got a technical because of it, but it’s the one called on Green that could prove more crucial down the road.
Green is a technical away from getting ejected from Game 3, but he’s also two technical fouls short of getting suspended for a game. A player who has accrued seven total technicals in the playoffs is required to serve a one-game suspension.
Two more … suspension …

Technical #5 in these playoffs for Draymond Green. One more and he's on the brink.

So far, the former Michigan State Spartans star has five techs in the playoffs, so he’s going to need to do a much better job of containing his emotions.
It’s not just his emotions that Green needs to keep in check. He also has to control his limbs, as any wayward sing of his elbows could get him a technical.
Of course, this is not an uncharted territory for Green, who was suspended for a game back in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals after hitting the threshold of flagrant fouls in the playoffs. Golden State infamously lost that finals despite being up 3-1 at one point in the series.
