The Golden State Warriors have made wholesale changes on their roster through the course of the season, now with only four players that have played for the team for four or more years. As they move into a brand new state-of-the-art arena, the Warriors may have to find a potential replacement for color commentator Jim Barnett, though they have yet to look for someone to take over his post.

According to Steve Berman of The Athletic, “if the Warriors are conducting a search for his replacement, they’ve been able to keep that process a total secret.” The 75-year-old former player nearly parted ways with the organization right before the start of its dynasty in 2014, and has since worked on year-to-year contracts, lasting through the past five seasons.

Barnett is among the most endeared figures among fans, often providing a kind and positive outlook that is fair to both teams, while giving unique insights from his time as a former player and historian of the game. His partner Bob Fitzgerald has had an up-and-down relationship with fans, but has been a favorite of this ownership group, likely locking down his spot for the long term. Barnett though, could be a different story.

Fans have audibly pleaded for Barnett to stay and while the Warriors would be smart to do their due diligence and look for a replacement for an analyst that is aging, it's unlikely the two will part ways just yet, per Berman.

If they do, Barnett has worked with longtime radio voice Tim Roye on 95.7 The Game several times in the past, and that could be his next landing spot if the organization decides to move on from their longtime color analyst.

Barnett, who played for the Warriors from 1971-74, has been a television analyst since the 1985-86 season, encapsulating some of the best eras in franchise history over the course of 34 years of service.
