The Golden State Warriors have returned home for Game 3 against the Houston Rockets, and they're looking to gain an advantage in the series. Jimmy Butler suffered a pelvis and deep gluteal muscle contusion early in Game 2, and his status is up in the air for the Warriors. He's been listed as day-to-day, but there seems to be some optimism coming from the Warriors, including head coach Steve Kerr.

“Steve Kerr says he is ‘relatively optimistic' about Jimmy Butler playing tomorrow. ‘I think there’s a chance he plays,'” Kerr said via ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk on X, formerly Twitter.

Butler collided with Amen Thompson early in Game 2 and hit the floor hard after being airborne. Butler went to the locker room and did not return to the game, which left many worried about his status in the series.

Throughout the past few years, Butler has suffered injuries, and in some cases, he's been able to play through them, while other times, he's had to sit out at times. He's the ultimate competitor, so having to sit out may not be what Butler wants to do, but if he can't be his most productive self on the court, it might be best for him to sit out Game 3.

It sounds like it's not a serious injury, and if everyone is optimistic about his status in Game 3, he could sit and then come back in Game 4 to get more rest.

The series is currently tied, as the Warriors were able to steal a game on the road. It's been a physical series so far, and there has been a lot of talking from both sides. These two teams don't like each other, and one is trying to get into the other's head. Unfortunately, it might not work on the Warriors, as they've been battle-tested for years with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green leading the way.
