Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green recently guested Joel Embiid in his podcast and as expected, the pair produced one of the best episodes of the program. These are two of the best trash talkers this game has ever seen and it was only a matter of time before they started going at it on the show.
It was Green who actually threw the first punch by saying that he hopes to meet Embiid and the Sixers in the Finals. The Warriors vet immediately sent a bold warning towards Embiid and naturally, the Sixers star clapped back in the best way possible:
Green: âHopefully we will meet yâall in the Finals, because as you know, like nobody else in this league, Iâm lockinâ that sât up.â
Embiid: âWhatever, that's why you need a double-team every time we play y'all.â
Green: âThat's crazy because I never ask for a double-team, that's not even in my makeup.â
Embiid: âI always find myself to be doubled every single time played against you.â
It's as if Embiid was just waiting for Green to make the first move here. The Sixers star definitely came prepared as he responded with an epic counterpunch of his own by implying that Green could never take him 1-on-1. Embiid noted that the Warriors need to resort to double-teaming him down low, which unsurprisingly, did not sit too well with Green.
To be clear, though, the pair were laughing throughout their exchange and this was nothing more than friendly banter between two intense competitors. It was all in good fun. Nevertheless, it did not prevent either of them from throwing some hard punches in the opposite direction.
At one point in the conversation, Embiid took the trash-talking to the next level by attacking Green's skillset. Not only did the Sixers star call out Green's lack of shooting proficiency, but Embiid even went as far as saying that he's willing to lose a game based on this notion:
Article Continues BelowEmbiid: âYou can make plays because you can't shoot the basketball.â
Green: âHey, but I make every other play. Leave me open down the stretch and I'ma can your ass.â
Embiid: âBut would I rather make Stephen Curry or you beat us? I'd take you any single day.â
Green: âMany has succumbed to that mindset, brother.â

Green graciously bowed out of the exchange by conceding to Embiid's claim. He did send out a warning to the Sixers big man about utilizing that risky mindset against the Warriors, though, before changing the subject.
What this epic discussion proves is that Green and Embiid are elite in terms of their smack-talking game. Who won this tussle, though?
For what it's worth, the Warriors and the Sixers are indeed two legitimate threats in their respective conferences. As such, a matchup between these two teams in the Finals this season is not far-fetched. That would surely be a treat for basketball fans everywhere as there is no shortage of star power from both sides.
More importantly, we will get to see Green and Embiid face off against each other in a seven-game series. The trash-talking will be inevitable and incessant, but in the end, we will be able to determine which player will truly be able to help lead his team to championship glory. I'd pay to watch that.
