Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors proved that his heart does not only belong to basketball. His heart also goes out to kids and their welfare.

As reported by Tim Daniels of Bleacher Report, Durant recently committed to paying for the first year tuition fee of the kids he mentored from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula in Menlo Park, California.

Below is a video posted by ESPN, which tells Durant's history with the Boys & Girls Clubs. It features interviews with Durant himself, as well as several kids from the club.

Unknown to many, Durant plays a very active part in giving back to charity. Last March, when Durant donated $13 million for charitable causes, his teammate Quinn Cook spoke about Durant's support to his community.

As reported by Karl Buscheck of the San Francisco Examiner, Cook said:

“It means a lot to the community,” Cook said. “It’s not just the amount of money that he donated. It’s the constant support that he gives to the kids. He’s always back, showing his face. He’s like a superhero — on and off the court — to the kids back home,” Cook explained.

Head coach Steve Kerr also chimed in. For him, it's not necessarily the games they play that matter. Kerr said that the charitable causes that his team participates in are their greatest contribution as an organization:

“I’m incredibly proud of all of our guys,” head coach Steve Kerr said. “So many of them do so much good in our communities. And, ultimately, that’s the biggest measure of the impact that we make as an organization and as players.”
