In recent years, Kevin Durant has often been vilified by fans and media alike. They have criticized his ring-chasing with the Golden State Warriors as well as his curious Twitter burner accounts.
However, for a piece published Friday morning, Durant sat down with Kerith Burke of NBC Sports Bay Area. In the Q&A, Durant opened up about basketball, free agency, his family and his legacy. When asked about the legacy he wants to leave behind in basketball, he told Burke:

Because I spent so much time grinding and only my close friends knew what I did … and now to be out on this stage, just to be here, for one. A lot of people don’t make it. But to also go to the next level. … I feel like my legacy was stamped to the people who are really important to me since Day 1.”
Durant is easily one of the league's top players. But his response shows that just making it to the NBA was enough for him. He explains that his hard work that the people closest to him can see is enough of a legacy.
When asked about his upcoming free agency, Durant explained that legacy will not factor into his decision. Instead, he will focus solely on going somewhere that can make him the best player he can be on the court.
Durant, 30, is having another fantastic season for the Warriors. He is averaging 27.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists while shooting 51.4%. For his career, he is a 10-time All-Star, two-time NBA champ and two-time Finals MVP.
