The Golden State Warriors experienced a really odd Thursday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, once again shooting poorly from the field, but even worse from the foul line, something that cost them the win in a narrow 110-109 overtime loss. Forward Kevin Durant wasn't happy with a 6-of-15 night at the charity stripe, as seven of the nine misses came from him, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson — all clinical foul shooters.
“Definitely stings when you're leaving money out there on the floor,” said Durant. “Unacceptable to miss that many free throws. We're pretty efficient at the line. I started us off missing two in a row and I think that kind of got to us a bit.”

Besides the two missed free throws, Durant didn't have a bad night at all, racking up 26 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists on the night, including the game-tying 3-point basket to send the game to overtime after trailing for most of the fourth quarter.

Yet he had the chance to win it with a pull-up mid-range jumper at the buzzer, which rimmed short and vanished any chance at nabbing the win at home.
“It's a shot I work on everyday and I'm p***ed I missed that one,” said Durant of his last-second missed jumper. “I gotta make that shot. I gotta make it, plain and simple.”
The Warriors did almost everything by the book. They out-rebounded and out-assisted Portland while racking up 10 steals and nine blocks, all while limiting Portland to 36.2 percent shooting throughout the game.
Even when shooting 42.5 percent from the field and a woeful 29.5 percent from deep, and even after a late Curry turnover spoiled a potential win, they still had the chance to win before the end of overtime. But shooting 40 percent at the foul line as the second-best foul-shooting team in the league only compounded yet another head-scratching loss at home for a team now searching for answers.
