The 2018 NBA Finals is officially in the books with the Golden State Warriors winning titles back-to-back and Kevin Durant starting to put himself in select company with two rings and two NBA Finals MVPs.

Following the sweep of LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals, Durant made some interesting comments. The perennial All-Star believes that standing out on a team with a lot of talented players like the Warriors is no easy task and is much more difficult than being the best player on a team without much talent, via Michael Lee of Yahoo Sports.

“I feel like it’s easy to be the best player when you don’t have good players around you. I feel like it’s harder to stand out when you have great players around you,” Durant told Yahoo Sports. “I pride myself on standing out wherever I am. I pride myself on working hard wherever I go. And I feel like these guys embraced me and I feel like I’m a Warrior.”

In a way, this can be taken as a shot at LeBron. Throughout the entire 2017-18 NBA season the Cavaliers were a hot topic of discussion because the narrative was James playing with lesser talent with the roster needing to be upgraded. That led the team to make some drastic changes ahead of the NBA trade deadline resulting in the arrival of George Hill, Rodney Hood, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance Jr.

Although the team attempted to right the ship while parting ways with Dwyane Wade, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Derrick Rose, the narrative continued in Cleveland all the way up to and through the NBA Finals. The Cavs were ultimately swept in four games and now the league awaits LeBron's decision in NBA free agency next month.

As for Durant, the Warriors continue to cement their legacy as one of the greatest teams in league history. Golden State has won three titles in the last four years and has shown no signs of slowing down as Durant and company try to keep the historic run going with four All-Stars leading the way.
