Golden State Warriors fans have to wait for some time before they can see rookie Alen Smailagic make his NBA debut.
Smailagic, who was drafted 39th overall in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft, rolled his ankle during the team's Wednesday practice. Head coach Steve Kerr then broke the news that the 19-year-old forward will be out for the “foreseeable future” due to the injury.
“He’s going to be out for the foreseeable future,” Kerr told reporters after the team's practice on Friday, per Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s nothing he’s coming back from in the next week.”

The Warriors are already dealing with injuries to Willie Cauley-Stein and Kevon Looney, so Smailagic's issue is undoubtedly a massive blow to the team. Cauley-Stein is expected to miss training camp and their first few games of the season with a foot injury, while Looney is sidelined with a minor hamstring injury but could be back soon.
Smailagic impressed for the Warriors during the Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 8.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in four games.
Omari Spellman is set to start for the Dubs in their preseason games as Looney, Cauley-Stein and Smailagic recover from their injuries.
