Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry lit up the Chase Center during Thursday night's preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, ringing in 40 points in 25 minutes of action before taking a fourth-quarter rest in a 143-123 victory. According to the team, this is the first preseason 40-burger since Curry himself lit up the Wolves for 40 points two years ago on Oct. 8, 2017.

Curry shot the ball with blistering efficiency, making 14 of his 19 field goals and connecting on 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, quickly racking up the points against a Timberwolves team that fought back and stayed the course before he put them away in the third quarter.

The rest of the Warriors starters also departed once he reached the 40-point mark with a three-point play at the 5:29 mark of the third period, boasting a 101-88 lead.

This seems to be a performance the two-time MVP will likely have to replicate against teams of this caliber, as a lot of the scoring load will rest on his shoulders during this upcoming regular season.

It's highly likely that the Warriors will be largely dependent on Curry's display of fireworks to get through the All-Star break, though others like D'Angelo Russell (16 points, five assists) and rookie Jordan Poole (19 points) will need to step up and contribute from time to time.

Thought the 40-point bombs will undoubtedly be flying in the newly-christened Chase Center, which already got a clear display of Curry's microwave shooting ability and his all-around skill set.
