Sacramento Kings veteran forward Vince Carter received a warm ovation from the fans in what may have been his last game at the Air Canda Centre on Sunday night.

While it may not have been the performance Carter would have wanted in a potential finale after losing to the Toronto Raptors, his heartfelt moment with the crowd shows that the love between the two still has not left after all these years.

Given Vince Carter's history with the team, there was speculation that he could have joined the Raptors as a free agent prior to the 2017-18 NBA season. Although he ultimately wound up signing with the Kings, Carter is optimistic about potentially retiring as a Raptor, according to Blake Murphy of The Athletic.

“Of course. I heard about it. It didn't happen, I guess. It's just one of those things, it'll happen, for sure. Somehow, whether it's one day or something, it'll happen. It's supposed to happen, I think. I can say that now. I've had a lot of people say it's supposed to happen, so no I guess I have to believe.”

There is no doubt that that Vince Carter deserves some sort of retirement deal after putting the Raptors on the map during his prime from 1998-2005. His highlight-reel dunks made him one of the most notable players of his generation.

Since then, he has been all over the map with five other teams before joining the Kings. However, Carter's floundering status with the Kings leaves plenty of questions as to the degree in which the Raptors are willing to make things happen.
