Tragedy has struck the soccer world as Liverpool superstar Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother, André Silva, 25, have died in a traffic accident. As players and fans around the world mourn this tragedy, Liverpool part-owner and NBA star LeBron James took to social media to react to the horrific news.

“My prayers goes out to his loved ones during this time! May you all be guided and protected! YNWA JOTA!!” James wrote, followed by three prayer hands emojis and a heart.

The news of the fatal car crash happened at midnight local time near Zamora, Spain, and started hitting the internet in the early morning hours of July 3 (EST).

“The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed to The Associated Press that Jota and his brother were found dead after their car went off a road on an isolated stretch of highway about an hour west of Zamora. Authorities said the car — a Lamborghini, according to police — was in flames,” ESPN reports. “It wasn't clear who was driving the car. Police were looking into the hypothesis that the crash happened because of a blown tire.”

He recently married his longtime girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, with whom he shares three children.

His younger brother,  André Silva, played for Penafiel in the Portuguese 2nd League.

Diogo Jota was also a member of the Portuguese National Team, posting 49 caps for the side. In June, he helped the team win the UEFA Nations League Final over Spain. The side won 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 extra time draw, which saw Jota come on as a sub in the 105th minute.
