Alex Caruso and Jared Dudley of the Los Angeles Lakers are the latest within NBA circles to point out that LeBron James may be on the stingy side, which James himself has acknowledged.
During an Instagram Live session on Saturday, the two Lakers reserves spilled some locker room details and James in particular, including his well-known stinginess.
For one, Dudley said that the future Hall of Famer is not known for picking up the tab at restaurants, and Caruso was quick to second the observation.
“He is cheap, bro,” said Caruso. “That's one thing people don't realize. Rich people, bro…they want to keep their money.”
In 2017, James didn't disagree when his good buddy and then-Miami Heat teammate Dwyane Wade called him out for being cheap in an interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols.
“That is so, so, so, so falsely true,” James said.
“I’m not turning on data roaming. I’m not buying no apps. I still got Pandora with commercials,” said the dude who has now earned $1 billion in his career.

In a bonus segment during an interview on “Live! With Kelly” in 2016, Wade lightly roasted James for refusing to use his phone unless it's connected to WiFi.
“Who’s the cheapest?” Ripa asked Wade.
“Oh, LeBron,” Wade says.

There have been numerous incidents linking LeBron to bad tipping, including leaving a $10 tip on an $800 bill in Boston in 2008 (he later sent an appropriate tip), and a 2011 report accusing him, Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul of stiffing the staff after a Las Vegas party.
