A lot will be riding on the shoulders of Anthony Davis for the upcoming season. The Los Angeles Lakers are going to rely heavily on AD throughout the season, and at this point, it looks like the Lakers are his team.
There's also a matter, however, of one LeBron James, who is still widely considered as one of the top players in the league today. Is The King ready to concede his throne to AD as the Lakers' top dog? In his mind, Davis seems to think so. Apparently, even the rest of the squad agrees:

And it takes a group for leadership. Now obviously I know, the guys have talked to me about, ‘This is your team, we go as you go.’ Kind of the same thing that we did my first year here, but I think adding a couple guys, it makes that job a lot easier, where it takes a lot of stress and a lot of load off of one guy. Where we can have four, five, six guys that can do what they have to do to win basketball games.
“And at the end of the day we all have to sacrifice to reach our common goal, and that’s to win a championship.”
With all the superstars on the Lakers roster this coming season, egos could potentially get in the way of this team reaching its full potential. For his part, LeBron has been around enough to know what needs to be done to achieve their objectives. If this includes conceding the alpha title to Anthony Davis, then James is likely willing to make this sacrifice.
One thing we can say for sure is that it's definitely going to be an interesting season for the Lakers. They will need to get through a few hurdles along the way, and all eyes will be on this team as they navigate the campaign ahead.
