It looks like it’s not just fans of the Los Angeles Lakers who are looking forward to the return of Anthony Davis. Per Lakers Nation's Ryan Ward, newcomer Andre Drummond is excited for a reunion with the superstar big man, which could be coming sooner rather than later:

Remember last season, when the Lakers were shouted out and lauded for being the biggest team in the league? Well, it’s about to happen again, but with more talent.

At this point in his career, Drummond equates to much more than JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard, with a much more robust offensive skill set and actual bulk to go with his length. He’s also an absolute monster on the boards.

This plays well with Anthony Davis, who has said before that he much prefers to work as an athletic stretch 4 than an actual bruising 5. Drummond gives the Lakers exactly that, which opens up AD to play on the perimeter. They can both live well together, and we remember what happened when AD was last paired with a secondary star on the other block (pour one out for Boogie).

To hear Drummond tell it, the two bigs bonded over their time on Team USA, so it’ll be even more exciting to see them work together. If you’re wondering if Drummond will be able to fit into the scheme of LeBron James and AD, you haven’t been paying attention. Drummond knows he’s a third banana at best, and he wouldn’t have wanted to go to the Lakers if he didn’t want a championship above personal glory or counting stats.

Just think about this starting lineup: LeBron, AD, Drummond, Dennis Schroder, and Kyle Kuzma/Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. That five doesn't have too many weaknesses, if any.

No wonder Drummond is excited to see it come together, and we'll see if it happens Thursday against the Dallas Mavericks.
