Los Angeles Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis says he's wearing No. 3 in 2019-20 because it's the first number he ever wore.

Davis was supposed to wear No. 23 after Lakers star LeBron James gifted the number to him. However, the NBA has a rule where you have to notify the league at a certain date about changing jersey numbers.

So, Davis is going to wear No. 3 in 2019-20 and James will get to keep his No. 23. AD says he wore No. 3 back as a kid in Chicago in the seventh grade. The superstar big man admits he was hurt when the league said he wouldn't be able to wear No. 23, although he appeared to be saying it in a joking manner.

The Lakers, for the first time in a long time, have championship aspirations with Anthony Davis in the fold. A duo of LeBron and Davis is arguably one of the most scariest things we have seen in NBA history. James and Davis are second and third, respectively, on the NBA's all-time player efficiency list.

On the Lakers, Davis is reuniting with DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo. The trio were teammates together in 2017-18 on the New Orleans Pelicans. Laker fans are praying Davis and LeBron can bring banner No. 17 to Los Angeles in 2019-20.
