Los Angeles Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis says he's wearing No. 3 in 2019-20 because it's the first number he ever wore.
Davis was supposed to wear No. 23 after Lakers star LeBron James gifted the number to him. However, the NBA has a rule where you have to notify the league at a certain date about changing jersey numbers.
So, Davis is going to wear No. 3 in 2019-20 and James will get to keep his No. 23. AD says he wore No. 3 back as a kid in Chicago in the seventh grade. The superstar big man admits he was hurt when the league said he wouldn't be able to wear No. 23, although he appeared to be saying it in a joking manner.
