Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been at the center of a number of fierce rivalries throughout his nearly two decades in the NBA. One of his most entertaining was against Boston Celtics icon Paul Pierce, who he had several postseason clashes against.

Pierce recently appeared on the What Did I Miss? podcast hosted by Michelle Beadle. But instead of talking about his own rivalry with King James, the Celtics star asked about Beadle's own beef with the Lakers frontman.

“There was a rumor that [LeBron] got you fired from ESPN,” Pierce asked Beadle. “So I understand why you don't like him.”

Beadle, who worked with ESPN for several years in the past before taking a hiatus from sports media back in 2019, admitted that there indeed was an attempt from LeBron James to do just that. But exactly how the Lakers star attempted to do such a thing remains a mystery.

“He tried,” she said. “He did try, yup. He did try to do that. I was like, ‘Wow, I’m honored that I’m even on your mind. Thank you very much, sir. That’s a weird place for me to be.’

“My stuff with him started out not personal,” Beadle continued on the Lakers star. “I made fun of ‘The Decision’ like 400,000 other talking heads did at the time, and I think for some reason that was it. It wasn’t personal to begin with. It obviously now will always be personal. It is what it is. But I also am very comfortable with not liking people. I think that’s what makes us all healthy. It’s the people that pretend they like everyone – you can’t trust them.”

There's been no shortage of beef brewing with LeBron James of late. He was most recently vocal against Enes Kanter over their ongoing beef after the Lakers-Celtics matchup. Add this to the long, growing list.
