Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel would be lying if he said he wouldn't be disappointed if the 2019-20 season was canceled.
After all, his Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference standings and are title contenders with superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way.
However, Vogel understands basketball isn't very important at the moment:
Frank Vogel just spoke on a conference call about the possibility the 2019-20 season might not resume: "That certainly is a possibility, and it would be a huge disappointment if we aren’t able to play. However, we get it, and this is bigger than basketball."

The Lakers had a record of 49-14 before the 2019-20 season was suspended.
LeBron was averaging 25.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 10.6 assists for the Lakers before play was suspended. The three-time NBA champion and four-time MVP was shooting 49.8 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Davis, meanwhile, was putting up a stat line of 26.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in his first season with the Lakers. The team looked primed to go on a championship run. It's unfortunate the coronavirus became a pandemic when it did.
Davis says his Lakers teammates are sending each other highlight tapes because they miss the game so much:
“We’re sending each other highlight tapes because we miss the game,” Davis told Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times. “Guys are finding a way to work out safely because you know the season isn’t over. We want to make sure we pick up where we left off. We were in a great place.”
L.A. fans are hoping play is resumed in the summer.
After all, Purple and Gold supporters want to see the team capture title No. 17 in franchise history.
